Daniel Zachariah Thomson, or just Zach, has long since lived at a mental hospital, ever since his parents were killed. Since that fateful night, he's been seen by many doctors, and nobody can explain all of his different illnesses. His sensitivity to the sun... The special red, syrupy food Nurse Ophelia gives him... His inability to eat anything else... And finally the answer is presented to him. He's a vampire. Everything seems to make sense with that, but he still finds it hard to believe. Him? Zach? The crazy kid? A vampire? But when another vampire comes to bust him out of the hospital, telling him that he's in grave danger, he doesn't know what else to believe. So he runs.

Luna has always been the quiet shy girl, the one that nothing happens to. When she meets Zach, she's taken away. She knows that there is something odd about him, other then his strange best friend who is obsessed with her sister. So she is attracted to him. But when she is confronted with stories of violent murders and gory scenes, all caused by Zach, she doesn't know what to think. She wants to trust him, but how much does she really know?

Running isn't always the most respectable way to go, but it is usually the safest. Zach still has to come to terms with his vampirism, and losing all of the people close to him isn't the best way to go about it. So when he's given the chance to talk to his uncle, another vampire on top of it, he goes for it. What could go wrong?

This book is a race for answers, that your heart will have to fight to keep up with. All the way until the end, you are battered with twists in the plot, and turns in the story. The characters and their choices will keep you thinking long after the story has ended. Other then the sometimes predictable choices, Night Runner is a wonderful, fun, and face-paced book that almost any teenager, and many adults, will enjoy!
